Drivers Using New Ramp by Thanksgiving Eve

First of many signs of progress this holiday season

On one of the busiest travel days of the year, drivers on the northwest side of Franklin County will be using a new ramp to travel from Old Dublin to northbound Interstate 270. The new ramp is part of the $71 million interCHANGE reconstruction project that started last March at Interstate 270 and US Route 33.

In June, a small section of US 33 closed to allow the contractor to build several new bridges and ramps. US 33 westbound drivers had to exit to 270 NB to Sawmill Rd. to 270 SB to continue westbound on 33. That detour will continue until next month, but starting tomorrow, drivers will be on the new ramp.

In order for the new ramp to get striped and ready for traffic, drivers will be temporarily impacted. Here’s how.

Wednesday, November 25, 2015 – Between 9 a.m. and noon.

  • I-270NB will be reduced to three lanes between US 33 and Sawmill Rd.
  • 12 p.m. all lanes open
  • By 2 p.m. 33 WB traffic will be on the new ramp to 270 NB.

Weather permitting, that section of US 33 along with two loop ramps are expected to open in about two weeks. That means drivers will be able to go from one side of Dublin to the other without any detours.
